The Importance of Integrating Links to Social Media
In the first part of this mini-series dedicated to the basics of online marketing we’ve listed the absolute essentials for any e-signature and also pointed out the legal requirements for e-mail signatures to disclose the company name, registration number, place of registration etc. for limited companies.
This post is dedicated to a very popular topic: the importance of integrating hyperlinks to social media profiles into your e-signature. Social media has become a complementary part of a whole set of online marketing activities. You can’t ignore it, and once you have it you need to promote it as well.
In principle it is the same: your e-signature is about providing your contact details. By integrating hyperlinks to your website and blog, you can also increase traffic and number of visits to your website. Your optimised e-mail signature should include:
- Link to Your Website
- Link to Your blog
- Links to Your Social Media Profiles (Facebook, LindedIn, Twitter)
Rather than simply pasting in the URL, use some text to describe the link. For example:

To keep in line with your company’s branding you can also upload your logo and use your corporate design, e.g. font and colours. The golden rule is to keep it simple, consistent and readable. We recommend printing out your e-mail signature before you start using it, and spending some time reviewing and re-designing.
